Comparison of using a cover crop or using herbicides on vine root distribution and soil characteristics

These French authors compared the effects of the presence of a cover crop versus the use of herbicides on the distribution of roots  and the soil properties. And to make sure they captured any effects, they repeated the trial for 17 years!
