Job Title: Cellar Master
Job Type: Full Time
Job Description: Overview of the position :
The Cellar Master is an integral part of a motivated team focused on producing site specific estate wines. It will be the responsibility of the cellar master to perform and uphold the high standards and procedures of our Estate Winery. The small nature of Fisher Vineyards means you will be solely responsible for processing procedures and logistical operations in the cellar. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to do focused individual work, and a passion for wine. Participate in the training, supervision, and mentoring of harvest interns.
Professional Responsibilities :
• Efficient planning of cellar operations throughout the aging process, Pre-harvest maintenance and harvest
• Logistic awareness with equipment and barrel movements (Forklift and Racking)
• Qualitative assessment of wine in barrel
• Cooperage assessment and planning
• Manage crush line set-up, grape receiving and processing
• Perform additions and wine movements as directed
• Manage inoculations and additions as directed
• Racking and filling barrels
• Cross training with Enologist
• Participation in wine evaluation tastings
• Monitor and track Fermentations
• Assist with topping wines
• Filtration when needed and bottling preparation
• Facility upkeep and general maintenance
• Preform and develop general winery sanitization procedures, including tanks and equipment
• Documenting all wine and barrels movements via Cellar Work Notes
• Cellar supply inventories and fulfillment.
Professional Requirements :
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Desire for additional knowledge and improvement in all areas of wine production
• Attention to detail
• Strong Organizational skills.
• Well-developed problem solving skills
• Positive attitude and passion for wine
• Forklift License and skill
• Ability to lift 60lbs
• Minimum 2 years cellar working experience
Preferred requirements :
4 year bachelor’s degree
Experienced palate for wine tasting
3-5 years in industry experience
Problem solving and mechanical understanding
Remuneration :
$27-$33 per hour with annual review
