Job Title: Harvest Intern
Job Type: Seasonal
Job Description: Expectations:
• Reports directly to Cellar Master regarding all cellar work
• Reports directly to Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker regarding administrative and lab duties
• Crossed-trained to perform lab duties to provide team redundancy/backup
• Assists the Sales department as needed with warehouse fulfillment
• Is a facilities expert; ensures sanitation, equipment function, and safety standards are always met
• Has strong communication skills, and works well in a team environment
• Displays a strong, self-motivated work ethic
• Demonstrates an organized and efficient use of time
Daily Production/Cellar Responsibilities:
• Maintaining and/or surpassing high quality winemaking standards, including comprehensive ultra-premium practices and sanitation procedures
• Assisting production staff in all related production aspects including but not limited to: racking, blending, filtration, topping, bottling, and harvest-specific duties
• Assisting with lab-oriented functions including but not limited to: making additions, bulk wine sampling, and evaluating bench-top trials
• Ensuring all equipment (pumps, filters, presses, etc.) are in good working order and sanitized regularly
Harvest-Specific Responsibilities:
• Assisting winemaking team with the logistical aspects of incoming fruit, tank space, and barrel care
• Coordinating with Cellar Master, Enologist, and Winemaker to prioritize cellar activities
• Assisting in fruit processing
• Cleaning and sanitizing all crush equipment, tanks, fermentation area, and crush pad
• Maintaining cap management
• Assisting with drains and pressings
Qualifications:
• 1-3 years experience in wine industry, cellar experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field: Enology, Viticulture, Food Science, Fruit Science, Fermentation Science, Ag Business, or Chemistry preferred but not required
• A drive and passion for working in the wine industry
• Must have and maintain a clean driving record
• Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time, lift 50+ pounds regularly
