Role Overview
We are looking for a Vineyard Technician with viticulture experience to support the deployment of Scout’s application in the Napa and Sonoma regions. This role involves working directly in the field to install and maintain our software, along with essential third-party hardware—including cameras, GPS devices, and necessary connections—on ATVs and tractors. The technician will be responsible for conducting vineyard scans and ensuring seamless geolocated image capture, as well as collecting other relevant data.

Key Responsibilities
Vineyard Technology & Data Collection
Hardware Installation & Maintenance: Set up, troubleshoot, and maintain cameras, GPS units, and necessary cabling for seamless integration with the Scout Vision Mobile app.
Vineyard Scanning & Site Visits: Conduct field scouting to collect ground control points, perform ground-truth validation, and gather additional data to enhance AI model accuracy.
Quality Assurance: Perform manual spot checks to verify data accuracy and maintain high standards for vineyard insights.
Client & R&D Support: Assist with vineyard scanning at both client sites and research & development locations to refine Scout’s technology.
Technical & Field Operations
System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in collaboration with internal engineering teams.
Equipment Calibration: Inspect and fine-tune cameras, GPS, and other sensor-based devices for maximum accuracy and reliability.
Data Review & Reporting: Provide field insights and performance updates to the team to improve technology deployment.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Pursuing or completed a degree in viticulture, plant science, agricultural technology, or a related field.
Experience with vineyard operations, agricultural equipment, or precision agriculture is a plus.
Technical Skills
Comfortable using hand tools and mechanical equipment for hardware installation.
Familiarity with GPS, cameras, and mobile applications used in agricultural data collection.
Basic troubleshooting skills for hardware/software issues in the field.

Meticulous Attention to Detail: Ensures accurate data collection and follows technical instructions with precision.
Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Thrives in outdoor, variable field conditions and approaches challenges with proactive solutions.
Independence & Initiative: Works autonomously in the field, taking ownership of daily tasks and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Effective Communication: Engages smoothly with vineyard teams, clients, and internal engineering groups.
Schedule & Commitment
Approximate term: 7 months (April–October)
Flexible start/end dates for students with harvest internships
Hours: 20–40 hours/week (Monday–Friday) with occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays
Variable start times based on field schedules; some remote work possible

Additional Requirements
Transportation & Travel: Must have reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursement available) for vineyard site visits.
Language Skills: Spanish/English bilingual proficiency is a plus for effective communication in the field.
Location Requirement: Must reside in or near Napa/Sonoma to ensure accessibility to vineyard sites.
