Job Title: Harvest Enologist
Job Type: Internship
Job Description: We are looking for a hardworking, considerate, and kind Harvest Enologist to join us for the 2024 harvest. Candidates with the Preferred Qualifications would be ideal but as our interns work as part of an experienced team, all with the Essential Qualifications are welcome to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for ensuring proper timing of all inoculations and additions
• Leads vineyard and fermentation sampling for the team
• Careful handling and sanitation of all cellar and crush equipment
• Wine movements including tank-to-tank transfers, racking and barreling down
• Fruit processing including receiving, pressing, dumping, de-stemming and crushing
• Fermentation monitoring including sampling for Brix, temperature and lab samples
• Daily cap and barrel management including stirring, punchdowns and pumpovers

Essential Qualifications:
• Minimum of one vintage of prior relevant experience
• Must be authorized to work in the US
• Qualified international candidates must obtain authorization through CAEP.org
• Must possess a driver’s license that is valid in California

• Must be able to perform demanding physical work including but not limited to lifting 50 lbs. repeatedly, positioning heavy equipment, bending, climbing, pulling or squatting for long periods
• Must be able to tolerate exposure to outside elements (heat, wet and/or damp conditions, cold)
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work long hours during harvest and peak periods
• Must have sufficient math proficiency to accurately add, subtract, divide and multiply
• Must have sufficient computer acumen and be comfortable working with email, Word and Excel
• Must be willing and able to receive forklift certification to be provided by Pride Mountain Vineyards
• Must be able to understand and comply with all safety requirements, including attending all safety trainings and utilizing appropriate PPE required to perform the essential functions of this position

• Must be interested in all approaches to winemaking
• Must be able to formulate independent ideas about ways to improve wine quality and workflow
• Must possess a passion for all things harvest-related: long hours, repetitive tasks, dusty vineyard walks and a dogged approach to making the best wine possible
• Must be safety-minded with a considerate approach to all tasks
• Must be curious, engaged and have a receptive approach toward learning
• Must be eager to learn new things
• Must be eager to share what you know and willing to admit what you do not
• Must be able to ask for help and be willing to help others before they need to ask

Preferred Qualifications:
• Three or more years of harvest experience
• Past forklift training and certification
• B.S. or M.S. in Viticulture, Enology or a related field
