We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Winemaker to work in our historic Asti winery operations in Clovedale, CA. This is a great opportunity to work for a highly regarded and reputable wine maker and an excellent team. If you?re looking for a challenging and rewarding position and the chance to make some of California?s top wines, this could be the right job for you. HARVEST: ? Harvest ship planning to manage space requirements. ? Oak adjunct planning. ? Fermentation monitoring/ tasting. ? Must treatments (additions) for Premium wines. ? Direct cellar operations (pressing, centrifuge, racks, etc.) ? MOX treatments as required NON-HARVEST: ? Team with Sr. Winemaker to generate daily wine processing outlines for production planner. ? Monitor and assure wine stage readiness according to agreed calendar. ? Track tank ullage with premium wine team to promote wine quality and maximize asset use. ? Schedule and participate in premium inventory reviews (tasting). ? Assist in blending and finishing of Premium blends in anticipation of the long term and 4 week bottling schedule. ? Interface with other site winemakers to plan shipping and blending needs. ? New product development and other special projects (quality, experiments, etc.) as required. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: ? Bachelor's degree in Enology or closely related field from a four year university. ? Proven ability to produce quality premium wines while maintaining style and cost objectives. ? Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead others, to work independently or in a team. ? Ability to think both analytically and subjectively. ? Strong organizational and time management skills. ? Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing work environment. Willing to work flexible hours when necessary. ? Computer literacy in MS Excel and Word required. Experience with advanced wine tracking systems (such as WIM) a plus. ? Strong math skills. ? Ability to contribute to a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner that enhances the relationships with client, customers, co-workers and management. ? 5 years successful wine industry experience with an understanding of current issues in premium/ commercial winemaking. |
