What:

The UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Anita Oberholster as our new Cooperative Extension Specialist in Enology. Dr. Oberholster obtained her undergraduate training at Stellenbosch in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and received her PhD from Adelaide University. Her dissertation topic was "Investigation of the Chemical and Sensory Properties of Red Wine Pigments".

We will be holding a Field Day at the Department of Viticulture and Enology on May 13th to welcome Dr. Oberholster to California and to introduce her to the local wine industry. The event will start at 10:00AM and go to about 3:00 PM. The morning's activities will feature presentations by Andy Walker and Jim Wolpert on the new teaching and research vineyard at the RMI facility, and by Roger Boulton and David Block on the newest, phase III plans for construction of a zero-carbon-enabling support building and on the design of our new small and large scale fermentors. Following the morning facility presentations, a crowd-favorite Buckhorn-Barbecue lunch will be served.

The afternoon will feature a presentation by Dr. Oberholster and other faculty to discuss new initiatives in the department. Please feel free to bring your issues and questions to discuss with Anita, or just come by to meet her.

The cost for the Field Day is $29.00 per person.
