Smoke Taint: Issues in Wine Production

Kristin Kennison, Viticulture Research and Development Officer for the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia, and one of the two leading researchers on smoke taint in Australia, will highlight this half-day seminar. One of her cooperating researchers, Dr Mark Gibberd, will also speak. The seminar will feature a panel of wine industry professionals who will relate their experiences closer to home with this emerging complication of wildfires. Tastings of spiked wines will help you identify the compounds believed to be responsible for the "smoke taint" character. There is still much to be learned, so be sure you attend.
