Knights of the Vine Scholarship

The Brotherhood was established in 1964 by Norman E. Gates. Gates followed the philosophy of ancient wine brotherhoods by honoring wine, country and mankind. It was his goal to create an organization to unite those people who produce wine, those who sell it, and those who appreciate it. Mr. Gates, who is now deceased, retired in 1995 at the age of 76. Michael D. Doukas followed Gates and led the Brotherhood until 2006. Upon Mr. Doukas’ retirement, L. William Hegland was elected the new Grand Commander, taking over on June 1, 2006.

There are currently 25 chapters in major cities across the United States.
