The continuing excellence of the Department has enabled California growers and vintners to develop practices that have allowed the Golden State to achieve its potential and become a premier wine-producing region.

Wine Spectator Scholarship

It is Marvin Shanken's love of wine that inspired him to publish the Wine Spectator, he simply wanted to be associated with a product he loved. Education is paramount to Shanken, and he views his publishing endeavors as an educational pursuit. It is the Wine Spectator Scholarship Foundation, guided by Shanken, that funds many students studying V&E at UC Davis.

The list of Wine Spectator Scholars read like a "Who's Who" in the wine and grape industry. The Wine Spectator Scholarship Foundation has given over $2 million worth of support to V&E students.
