The V&E Department combines the sciences of viticulture and enology in a single research and teaching unit that encompasses all of the scientific disciplines that impact grape growing and winemaking. For over one hundred years the University of California has maintained an active and productive program in research and education in viticulture and enology. The continuing excellence of the Department has enabled California growers and vintners to develop practices that have allowed the Golden State to achieve its potential and become a premier wine-producing region.
Our New Winery is Going UP !!
This just keeps getting better and better and more and more exciting, as every day seems to bring big visual changes in the construction of our new LEED Platinum winery, here on the RMI campus. The last few weeks have been especially memorable as a huge construction crane was moved in to install the massive beams that will support the structure. Please excuse our obvious enthusiasm, but this facility has been a long time in coming and we're all just SO eager to witness its completion. Maybe, if all works as planned, we'll have a new, state-of-the-art winery for the 2010 harvest!

RMI Winery Construction Webcam
We have added a webcam to enable visitors to follow the construction of our new LEED Platinum winery, in real time. This is a live broadcast, looking south from the main RMI complex towards I80, which is always very active in the background.
