Early leaf removal for crop control and improved juice composition in Sangiovese

These Italian authors compared hand and mechanical leaf removal. They found that early leaf removal, performed either by hand or machanically, is an effective way to reduce yield and improve quality in heavy-cropping varieties. Watch-out, though, for excessive leaf removal in warm climates.
