Margrit Mondavi attended the Topping Off Ceremony at UC Davis on Monday, June 11, 2007. The ceremony is a long standing tradition in the steel industry to celebrate the completion of this dangerous stage of construction. The ceremony, sponsored by the Department of Viticulture and Enology, the Department of Food Science and Techology, and the Robert Mondavi Institute allowed UC faculty and staff, the construction crew, and invited guests to celebrate yet another milestone in the construction of this project. Robert and Magrit Mondavi were the initial donors of a leadership gift that spurred the construction of a new academic building. Plans are underway for a new winery and brewery that will be built with 100% donated funds, a first for the Davis Campus. V&E students Shoshana Wolff, Scott Frost, and Samuel Chou poured champagne for the guests at the rooftop event.
