Department of Viticulture and Enology Notes the Passing of Joseph E. Gallo

Portrait of Joseph Gallo

The Department of Viticulture and Enology is saddened to note the passing of Joseph E. Gallo, Jr at age 87. Gallo, brother to Ernest and Julio, worked in the family wine business before creating Joseph Farms in 1982. Joseph Farms is the first and longest standing cheese producer in the USA to be granted governmental approval to label their cheese "No Artifical Hormones". The Gallo Family has contributed to the wine and food industry on many levels; we are saddened by the passing of this giant.
