Rental Cars
The university has negotiated agreements with several car rental companies. These agreements are for UC employees traveling on official university business only.
When using these university agreements, decline the optional Liability and the Loss Damage Waiver insurance on the rental agreement form since the university is self-insured. University insurance covers any damage sustained by the rental vehicle and provides increased liability coverage as long as the rental is for official university business use, and travel is within the continental United States or Canada.
Using a Car Rental Agreement
In order to use these agreements with the car rental company:
- identify yourself as a university employee on university business
- provide the vendor with the campus ID number at the time of reservation
- make sure the UC ID number is cited on the rental contract.
What To Do in the Event of an Accident
In the event of an accident while using a rental car:
- provide other involved parties with a university business card or business contact information
- report the incident to Risk Management Services as soon as possible.
