Research at V&E

The Department of Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis is a research and teaching institution. One of our missions is to help wine and grape scientists worldwide address questions that have no known or well-established answers. Our goal is to help improve the quality and value of grapes, raisins and wine for consumers by the application of new information and a better understanding of grape and wine qualities. To this end, each faculty member manages a research enterprise that includes numerous graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral research associates, staff researchers, and visiting scholars in addition to their undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities. We also make many efforts to extend this new research information directly to the public and grape and wine producers with classes, meetings, seminars and publications. For questions already addressed in textbooks and the scientific literature your best bet is to contact your local farm advisor. We would be happy to consider any suggestions for improving the information posted here.
