Charles Sawyer/Sawyer Cellars

Charles Sawyer enjoyed a successful career in northeast Florida running a propane gas and mechanical contracting business. When he sold his business in 1991, he embarked on a new career as winemaker and gentleman farmer. He found the perfect property in 1994, forty acres in Rutherford with a lovely 1930’s era redwood barn which has been restored into their hospitality room and tasting area. Behind the barn, they have constructed an underground barrel room and wine library.

Attention to detail is paramount to this winemaking team. All of their wines are 100% estate grown and bottled. They take great pride in the fact that their wines reflect the distinctive characteristics of each vintage and the Rutherford growing district that produces them.

Charles Sawyer and Sawyer Cellars are generous donors to the department's winery campaign.
