|Employment Location||Healdsburg, CA|
|Company Description|| We are a small winemaking team working closely together on a sublimely beautiful, certified organic and biodynamic property of roughly 130 acres, with 65 acres planted to 13 varieties. We expect to crush about 150 tons of fruit this year, and all of our wines are made form 100% estate-grown grapes.|
In addition to growing grapes and making wine, we have quite a multi-faceted operation: a farm team that sells organic produce from the property, dozens of sheep and chickens, an apple orchard from which we produce cider, 1500 oil-producing olive trees, and a bread-baking operation that keeps us going if we forget to bring lunch. While the Harvest Intern candidate should not expect to participate in these activities (except for cider-making), this is the balanced, alive, and energetic environment in which she or he will be carrying out their winemaking education.
|Employment Start Date||8/18|
|Employment End Date||11/18|
|Job Description|| The absolute commitment to working hard and with rigor and attention to detail is essential above all else for this position. Spanish-speaking skills are a plus, as is a passion and curiosity for wines of the world and a desire to share your favorites with the team, an appreciation of music, a great sense of humor and an upbeat, positive attitude.|
Key tasks include the following: Grape sorting and crushing; Barrel filling and topping; Punchdowns and pumpovers; and lots of cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
This position will be required to lift and carry 50 lbs., utilize basic arithmetic and measurement skills, follow detailed verbal and written instructions, work long days & weekends, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and ladders and work in a safe and efficient manner.
