Home to 8 wineries as of today, along with providing services to numerous other wineries. The various wineries that operate here produce a wide range of varietals in a multitude of styles using fruit from local vineyards. Labels under The Stomping Ground include Jason-Stephens Winery, Alara Cellars, Sarah’s Vineyard, J Winston Winery, and Calerrain.

Job Description The Stomping Ground is looking for harvest interns for the 2018 vintage. The nature of the co-op approach to winemaking for an internship position is that you will be interacting with numerous winemakers, gaining hands on experience on leading industry equipment including presses, destemmers, filtration, even VA removal (if needed). You will learn all aspects of the winemaking process in the cellar and lab while working with us. At the end of this internship, you will have the confidence to run a small winery if not the world. It is a fun group of wineries and people bringing various approaches to winemaking and thoughts which you will see in numerous different lots of wine. There will be tasting/blending/quality analysis of various lots of wine as well. We buy the best equipment to minimize the boring work and get things done efficiently. It will be a fun harvest where we often have lunch together on site and have bottles of wine after work.

The start date is flexible, with June as the earliest time, for individuals interested in assisting with bottling and harvest preparation. Wage is based on experience. Housing is not provided. Candidates must be able to stay for the duration of harvest.

-Punchdowns and pumpovers
-Laboratory analysis
-Barrel work, such as cleaning and filling
-Fruit receival, sorting, and processing

-Record keeping and data entry
-Reverse Osmosis and VA removal (if needed)

Other Information Qualifications:

-Current study in Enology and Viticulture
-Ability to carry and lift 40+ pounds on a routine basis
-A hard worker, with a willingness to work variable hours up to 10 hours a day, 6 days a week
-Personal integrity, reliability, and a willingness to communicate
-A humble approach towards learning
-Previous experience is appreciated but not required
