Title Viticulture Intern
Employer Wayfarer Vineyard
Employment Location Sonoma Coast
Company Description Wayfarer Vineyard is extraordinary and unforgiving – thirty undulating acres hidden beyond rising fog and redwoods on a remote reach of the Sonoma Coast. This distant landscape is the provenance of wildly beautiful wines born of risk, rigor, and mastery; small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Pacific's most dramatic appellation. Wayfarer wines are produced entirely from our Estate Vineyard, in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA.
Type Seasonal F/T
Pay Scale D.O.E.
Employment Start Date June
Employment End Date October
Job Description The Wayfarer Vineyard team is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual for our 2018 internship. The starting date will be in June, and will conclude at the end of harvest.

Wayfarer Vineyard is in a unique position where the winemaker is also the vineyard manager. This internship is an incredible opportunity to work alongside the winemaking team and understand how each action in the vineyard ultimately translates into the finished wine.

The Wayfarer Vineyard Intern will provide hands-on support for vineyard and cellar activities. Principal among Intern responsibilities will be pressure bomb measurements, scouting, fruit sampling, data collection, as well as battonage, sorting fruit, punch-downs, sampling and other viticulture and cellar activities. Occasionally the Vineyard Intern may stay at the company vineyard house for one to two nights a week, depending on work load and needs.

Key among the requirements will be a positive attitude, great work ethic, and attention to detail. We require a degree in viticulture, enology or related college degree, combined with abilities that include working under minimum supervision, lift/carry up to 50-lbs., and working extended weekday hours as well as on some weekends. While Spanish speaking skills are desired, they are not a requirement.
