Job Description The Stomping Ground is looking for harvest interns for the 2018 vintage. This position is an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from multiple winemakers with more than 100 years of combined experience, and learn the ins and outs of cellar and lab work that is essential in producing quality wine. We are looking for 2-4 interns to work for 3-6 months with a proven interest in wine, a willingness to work hard, and the ability to work well alone and with others. The work will be physically demanding and mentally challenging, but it will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone who loves hands-on work and would like to learn as much as they can about winemaking. The intern will be involved in all the activities required to turn grapes to wine, and will gain the skills to operate essential machinery such as presses, filtration devices, PulseAir, destemmers, ozonators, hot carts, and more. They will be fully trained to succeed in this position.

The start date is flexible, with June as the earliest time, for individuals interested in assisting with bottling and harvest preparation. Wage is based on experience. Housing is not provided. Candidates must be able to stay for the duration of harvest.

-Punchdowns and pumpovers
-Laboratory analysis
-Vineyard sampling
-Barrel work, such as cleaning and filling
-Operating and cleaning the press
-Fruit sorting and processing
-Wine transfers
-Record keeping and data entry
-Filtration and bottling (pre-harvest)


-Current study in Enology and Viticulture
-A high attention to detail
-Ability to carry and lift 50 pounds on a routine basis
-A hard worker, with a willingness to work variable hours up to 10 hours a day, 6 days a week
-Ability to work well with others as well as alone
-Personal integrity, reliability, and a willingness to communicate
-A humble approach towards learning
-Previous experience is appreciated but not required
