Job Description Saintsbury is seeking a rockstar intern for the 2018 growing season. He/She will be the acting liaison between the winemaking team and the many growers we work with.

Our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are sourced primarily from the Carneros region, as well as, Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, and Anderson Valley.

Primary duties will include vineyard scouting, crop estimation, pre-harvest grape sampling, vineyard data collection, record keeping, and data management. This is a hands-on position, requiring long periods of physical work outside, each day.

In addition, this person may be called upon to assist with general harvest activities in the cellar including, but not limited to, grape crushing, pump-over / punch down, hauling hoses, moving equipment, etc.

Education or experience in viticulture with graduate level coursework and/or research experience is desired. Candidates with focuses in Math, Environmental Sciences, or other Agriculture Sciences are also encouraged to apply. Experience with sustainable vineyard practices, knowledge of fine wine production, and Spanish language skills are desired, as are strong PC skills (Word, Excel).

Candidates must be able to work independently, and have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours, days, and shifts, including early morning hours and weekends. The position will involve extensive walking over uneven ground, climbing stairs and ladders, and requires the ability to lift 40+ pounds. A valid driver’s license is required. This is a temporary position starting towards the end of May and continuing through October.
