Title Harvest Intern
Employer FEL Wines
Employment Location Sonoma, CA
Company Description FEL Wines produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris from the Anderson Valley. FEL also features a unique portfolio of vineyard designate wines, including both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from our estate Savoy Vineyard. Both FEL and Savoy are part of Lede Family Vineyards, which includes Cliff Lede Vineyards and the Poetry Inn.
Type Seasonal F/T
Pay Scale DOE
Employment Start Date August
Employment End Date November
Job Description This will be the first year for FEL Wines in a brand new, custom-built facility in Sonoma, California. In addition to approximately 150 tons of fruit to be crushed for FEL in 2018, interns can expect 100-150 tons of custom crush, which will afford exposure to other producers stylistically and technically.

The harvest experience at FEL will provide interns with access to all aspects of cellar and wine work. This will include vineyard sampling and preparing the winery for harvest beginning in August, in addition to bottling and all related wine work. With the onset of harvest, tasks will extend to fruit processing, ferment management, pressing and barrel work, sanitation and no shortage of general cleaning.

We are looking for candidates with exceptional work ethic and attention to detail, an energetic and team-oriented attitude, and a passion for great wines, winemaking, and other sensory treats we will share over the course of harvest: great food, coffee, music, etc. We expect the highest quality from grape to bottle and this extends to the work that we do in the cellar. Production experience is always valued but not necessarily a requirement and is no substitute for the right attitude and commitment to highly quality work.

Interns are expected to work the long hours and weeks that harvest inheres in and to be capable of physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 pounds. The position runs roughly from mid-August to November, depending on timing of harvest and the needs of the team.
