|Job Description|| Bevan Cellars and its winemaking facility, Tench Winery, are looking for harvest 2018 interns. We are an ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon producer located in the heart of Oakville, Napa Valley, California. Harvest interns will have a very hands-on experience working closely with our small winemaking team and will see the total scope of the winemaking process. Positions begin around the first week of August and last through mid-November depending on winery needs. Interns should expect 30-40 hour weeks preceding harvest, with potential overtime once we begin to receive fruit. It is likely that interns will be required to work 6 days a week during the peak of harvest.|
Job Responsibilities may include:
-Cleaning and sanitizing bins, tanks, pumps, crush equipment
-Running the fruit processing line, raking grapes, removing waste, foot stomping grapes
-Taking brix and temp, pulling samples, using the FOSS, other basic lab work
-Fermentation monitoring including pumpovers, punchdowns, pulsair
-Inoculating wine lots and making accurate additions
-Draining/digging out/pressing off tanks
The ideal intern would:
-Have 1-2 harvests experience
-Have a positive attitude
-Be able to follow spoken and written directions
-Be a team player
-Have a desire to learn
-Be physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work long hours on their feet
-Commit to the possibility of working any day of the week, with a lot of potential overtime
-Forklift experience a big plus but not required for all jobs
*A special opportunity for the right person. We would like one of our interns to take on a hybrid role managing our winery database (Innovint) and working in the lab (managing fruit/juice/wine sampling and analysis). This position may be tasked with other administrative activities as needed. This is an ideal position for a person that already understands the workflow of a winery. Having database/data entry experience, lab experience, critical thinking skills, and impeccable attention to detail are advantageous for this position.
Unfortunately we cannot provide transportation or housing. All candidates must legally be able to work in the US and be able to communicate in English.
