Title 2018 Harvest Cellar Internship

Job Description Chateau Montelena Winery is seeking 2-3 harvest interns for the 2018 vintage. Job duties will include: general cellar work, sanitation, grape processing, fermentation monitoring, wine movements (racking/barreling), filtration, and more. The duration of the position will be approximately from August 15th through November 15th, depending on the timing of the harvest. Starting and ending dates are flexible, mid-July at the earliest (bottling). Wage based on experience ($14-15/hr.). Housing is not provided, but we can assist in locating housing. The vast majority of meals during harvest will be provided. All transportation is the sole responsibility of the applicant.

Qualifications should include:
- General knowledge of winemaking practices
- Minimum of one harvest previous experience is required
- Degree in or current study of enology and viticulture preferred
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs on a routine basis
- Able to perform physical labor involved in cellar work
- Willingness to work long variable hours, 6 days a week
- Spanish language skills are a plus
- Sense of humor is a must

Other Information Bring a GREAT attitude, strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the desire to have fun for a successful harvest.

Our interns leave with the ability to think critically, work independently, and with the internal motivation to perform at a high level.

Earlier start date and later end date are potentially available for those applicants interested in assisting with our summer and/or winter bottling runs, the latter being dependent on performance during harvest.
