Job Description The person in this position will report to the Viticulturist and will be responsible for monitoring vineyards for pest and disease presence, collecting viticulture data, and vineyard sampling. The Assistant Viticulturist will also help with day to day operations as needed by vineyard managers.

Core Responsibilities

-Collect and maintain accurate, timely records of viticultural events
-Scout for pests and diseases
-Prepare vineyard scouting reports
-Assist in the upkeep of information and records for LIVE reporting
-Assist in the coordination of the grafting and replant programs
-Perform and check crop estimates
-Collect data for the creation of maps for new development projects
-Work alongside and help direct a team of seasonal Viticulture Technicians
-Assist in the collection of harvest maturity samples and harvest scale weights
-Maintain weather stations
-Assist in the upkeep and organization of safety and compliance programs
-Participate in general operations work such as: moving supplies and equipment, harvest hauling, and pruning
-Miscellaneous special projects

Qualifications and Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture, Biological Sciences, Agriculture or similar field preferred or equivalent work experience
-Strong computer skills, including Excel and other Microsoft Office software
-Spanish language skills; Solid conversational skills desired
-Efficient and detail oriented, strong organizational skills
-Good communications skills; able to interact professionally with clients
-Able to lift 50 pounds and walk for long distances in challenging environmental conditions
-Ability to work a flexible schedule with additional hours during peak seasons, including weekends
