Job Description SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Winemaker and Wine Consultant, the Assistant Winemaker will provide direct oversight of vineyard and cellar/barrel operations, laboratory work, work-order generation, and data entry. This person will be fully involved in the vineyard and winemaking processes and play a key role in assisting all aspects of the vineyard and winery. Zo Wines is a family owned/operated Farmstay Inn, vineyard and winery, We are looking for a person, who has a passion to contribute, work hard, have fun, to learn, and create great guest experiences and to make great wines.


• Responsible for vineyard and farming contract oversight and coordination including harvest activities

• Responsible for daily winery operations in the cellar and laboratory

• Schedule monthly bulk wine maintenance (SO2 & topping)

• Perform laboratory analysis and ensure the accuracy of the results

• Maintain wine quality by tasting and monitoring analysis results

• Perform bench trials

• Taste and blend the wines with the Winemaker

• Facilitate year-round winemaking trials

• Assume duties performed by the Winemaker in his absence

• Perform all cellar work

• Data entry

• Perform bottling QC

• Maintain the inventories of wine, barrels, packaging goods

• Maintain and organize records for the Production - chemicals, additions, contracts, and packaging supplies

• Operate, troubleshoot, and remain current in knowledge of all winemaking equipment and facility

• Create/update production SOP’s

• Perform wine tasting events, work withs with distributors, wine maker dinners, and other sales related activities as requested.

• Minimum 5 complete years of experience in wine production, or 2 years with a relevant University degree.

• Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and overtime as needed particularly during the harvest season

• Great communication skill and Positive attitude

• Ability to work with limited direction and oversight and as a team player

• Strong organizational, problem solving and, analytical skills

• Commitment to excellence and quality standards

• Strong attention to detail

• Excellent computer skills

• Experience with wine tracking software

• Wine Lab experience.


• Must be able to work safely around equipment, electrical outlets, and chemicals.
• Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop, and crouch repeatedly
• Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods as required by job duties
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
