Job Description Under the direction of the Ownership, the Assistant Winemaker will provide direct oversight of cellar/barrel operations, laboratory work, work-order generation, and data entry. This person will be fully involved in the winemaking process and play a key role in assisting all aspects of the production department. Thomas Allen Vineyards & Winery is a family owned/operated winery, We are looking for a person, who has a passion to make great wines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are base duties.
• Responsible for daily winery operations in the cellar and laboratory
• Schedule monthly bulk wine maintenance (SO2 & topping)
• Perform laboratory analysis and ensure the accuracy of the results
• Maintain wine quality by tasting and monitoring analysis results
• Perform bench trials
• Taste and blend the wines with the Winemaker
• Facilitate year-round winemaking trials
• Assist the Cellar Master in cellar work
• Data entry using Winemakers Data Base.
• Perform bottling QC
• Maintain the inventories of wine, barrels, packaging goods
• Maintain and organize records for the Production - chemicals, additions, contracts, and packaging supplies
• Operate, troubleshoot, and remain current in knowledge of all winemaking equipment and facility
• Create/update production SOP’s

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Desire for making great wines
• Minimum 3 complete years of experience in wine production.
• Great communication skills
• Positive attitude
• Ability to work as a team player
• Strong organizational, problem solving and, analytical skills
• Commitment to excellence and quality standards
• Strong attention to detail in work and personal appearance
• Excellent computer skills
• Experience with WMDB or related wine tracking software

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop, and crouch repeatedly
• Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods as required by job duties
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
