Description

Bear Creek Winery, nestled in the heart of Lodi, California, is a 60,000-ton grape processing winery. The winery is a bulk facility, manufacturing quality wines for both domestic and export sales. The winery produces millions of gallons of wine, but maintains a family environment with a focus on safety. The Director of Winery Operations oversees all aspects of planning and management of operations. The position works closely with ownership and the wine making staff to ensure quality, customer satisfaction, and efficient daily operations, in addition to harvest planning and capitol improvement projects. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the long term customer base and strong team of Bear Creek Winery.

Duties

• Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing customers, growers, and wine brokers
• Communicate with and advise grape growers on growing quality product
• Create contracts with grape growers
• Execute bulk wine sales and create purchase orders/sales memos
• Schedule grape deliveries
• Supervise and coach winemaking on producing quality wines
• Provide quality leadership skills while being a visible team member
• Provide guidance for decision-making and problem resolution in all departments
• Diplomacy and people skills to interact with customers, clients, contractors, coworkers, and industry and government officials
• Efficient public speaking
• Maintain an approachable, pleasant, professional demeanor at all times
• Oversees safety requirements and compliance
• Flexibility with job demands and schedules
• Perform duties in a manner consistent with the company’s values

Qualifications

• 10+ years wine industry experience and supervision of production personnel in a large winery
• Experience in all aspects of manufacturing and winemaking
• Experience with quality grape growing and care
• Knowledge of OSHA, Water Quality Control Board, local Air Pollution Control regulations, County building codes and permits, and TTB regulations
• Leadership and management experience of 50+ employees
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
• Possess excellent record-keeping and organizational skills
• Computer literacy, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and preferably AMS
• Ability to multitask under pressure in a fast-paced environment with little supervision
