Title Cellar Supervisor

Company Description Come join our dynamic team at Tolosa in Edna Valley, San Luis Obispo. Working with estate vineyards and small quantities of high quality Pinot noir and Chardonnay from select vineyards from around California. We focus primarily on Pinot noir and Chardonnay but enjoy also crafting small lots of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Syrah, and Grenache. You will have an opportunity to be involved in all phases of harvest with other likeminded, hardworking individuals. Our equipment, which is specifically selected to craft premium quality wines, includes an optical sorter, basket press and state of the art open top fermenters. As a small brand housed within a custom crush facility we have access to advanced laboratory equipment.

Job Description We are looking for someone with:
• Passion and dedication for making world-class wines
• 3 to 5 years demonstrated effective supervisory skills leading a team of 4 to 5 cellar staff
• A thorough understanding of ultra-premium winemaking practices
• Established cellar skills including: emptying/filling barrels, transferring wine/ juice, cleaning/sanitation of winery equipment, topping, drain/pressing, crushing, inoculating, making additions, filtration, bottling and work order entry
• Ability to take direction and work within the existing team framework
• Trains and coaches cellar team in building cellar skills, safety practices, and ensures policies and procedures are followed
• Confirms that all equipment is operating in a safe manner and reports any out of order equipment to immediately
• Ensures work orders are accurate and complete at the end of each shift

You need to be able to:
• Remain positive, detail-oriented and energetic in the face of long hours
• Work long hours and most weekends in a fast paced environment
• Lift Walk and stand for long periods of time
• Climb up and down stairs and carry 50 lbs. repeatedly
• Follow written and oral English instructions
• Provide reliable transportation with a valid license
• Be authorized to work in the United States

Additional consideration for individuals who are:
• Forklift certified
• Able to speak Spanish
• Experience with WMDB inventory management system
• Possess a good sense of humor enjoy having fun while working hard
