Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Lab Technician will need to efficiently and accurately perform all enological analyses on wine through the various winemaking processes to ensure quality control in the finished product.
• Perform all routine analysis to monitor product quality from the grape through bottling in accordance with established procedures. Including but not limited to SO2, pH, TA, VA, ML, and RS.
• Collect tank and barrel samples of juice, fermenting must, and finished wine for analysis and tasting.
• Prepare and standardize reagents.
• Ensure precision and accuracy of analysis by troubleshooting, calibrating, and standardizing laboratory equipment and reagents.
• Recognize out of range wine analysis and take action, communicate, reanalyze.
• Maintain lab and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Assist in Bottling Line Quality Control checks when necessary.

Harvest/Post Harvest duties include:
• Routine monitoring of fermentations and provide an accurate account of progression.
• Performing various analysis on incoming crushed fruit and ensuring results are promptly available to winemaking team.
• Sampling grapes in the vineyards and analyzing juice for maturation levels.
• Monitoring wine for the completion of both primary and secondary fermentations, along with performing basic acid and stability trails.

Bachelor of Science required.
Knowledge of lab analysis and methodology required.
One year experience working in a lab environment required, experience in a wine production facility preferred.
Must be quality focused, punctual and reliable.
Ability to self-start, prioritize, and work within time constraints while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must be team oriented and willing to assist others.
Must be able to work long hours and weekends when needed during harvest.

The cellar and barrel warehouse present a challenging environment: hot and cold, wet, slippery and often noisy. Must be able to walk up and down stairs, ladders and mobile platforms. Must be able to walk, bend, twist, and be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
