Job Description Delicato Family Vineyards has an exciting immediate career opportunity for an Equipment Operations Supervisor in our King City, CA location.

Under general supervision, the Equipment Supervisor plans and implements the weed, insect, and disease control efforts. In addition, is responsible for coordinating and supervising equipment foremen, operators, and applicators that perform spray applications, mowing, cultivation, and mechanical harvest activities in the vineyard.

•Provides leadership and personal support; coaches, guides, nurtures, and develops the right people; leads by example
•Drives company focus, manages culture, encourages strong work ethic, and fosters an environment of trust and respect
•Develops individual performance plans in alignment with company goals and objectives; communicates clearly defined objectives; maintains level of productivity in unit
•Trains employees to do their job; set standards for work performance
•Monitors performance and provides feedback to direct reports through formal quarterly and annual reviews; regularly communicates with staff to achieve mutual understanding and desired results
•Recognizes and addresses performance strengths and limitations of staff
•Manages employee attendance to ensure compliance with company standards; approves/monitors overtime
•Communicates and supports company policies and decisions in a positive manner
•Handles employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner
•Provides employees with a safe, comfortable, and rewarding work environment
•Assists in the preparation and maintenance of department budget

•Monitors weed, fungal, and insect pest conditions in vineyard
•Develops and implements recommendations to mitigate weed, fungal, and insect pest problems
•Communicates and coordinates with all departments of planned spray activities, locations and schedules
•Requests chemicals and other materials needed by department
•Ensures processes of spray activities are complete, including: •Properly posting re-entry in fields
•Calibrating spray equipment and setting up materials
•Ensuring spray applicators are working safely and in compliance with pesticide regulations
•Completing annual training of pesticide handlers and equipment operators

•Maintains accurate records and reports on pesticide use (PUR) by appropriate dates
•Directs mechanical harvest operations and is responsible for: •Mowing, cultivating and cover cropping activities
•Delivering grapes according to harvest schedules

•Communicates with other Depts. on equipment problems, work schedule changes and upcoming plans
•Participates in team reviews and makes recommendations regarding: •Quality enhancement
•Cost savings
•Improved safety

•Participates in and contributes to sustainability, lean manufacturing, and ISO efforts
•Records all work completions in SureHarvest
•Verifies accounting codes for labor in Kronos and other profit centers for accuracy
•Approves department’s time off and timesheets in Kronos by set deadlines, each payroll period
•Provides input and develops annual budgets and farming plans
•Monitors “actual to budget” spending in department cost centers and reports variances
•Conducts monthly tailgate and company safety topic meetings
•Facilitates equipment specific training and documentation
•Guides and is responsible for equipment operations including: •Planting and harvesting of fields on open ground
•Supervising road maintenance operations
•Preparing in house land for vineyard development and removal operations

•Completes accident reports and performs injury investigations
•Organizes and writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for department functions and activities
•Compiles monthly reports on department’s progress for the Vineyard Manager
•Attends educational meetings, classes and seminars as needed to learn of new pest control materials and methods
•Recommends equipment acquisitions and improvements

Education and Experience:
•Bachelor of Science degree in Crop Science with Viticulture emphasis
•3 years of grape pest management preferably as a supervisor on a large farming operation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Thorough knowledge of wine grape production
•Strong organization and problem solving skills
•Ability to communicate professionally
•Demonstrated effective leadership skills in a team environment
•High degree of initiative
•Ability to support, mentor and motivate a diverse workforce
•Strong computer skills using business applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
•Ability to use specialized software such as SureHarvest, Passport and Kronos

Certificates and Licenses:
•PCA (Pest Control Advisor) license issued by California Department of Pesticide Regulation

•Working conditions are outdoors and are subject to the extremes of every season
• This is an agricultural environment and dust, water, wind, and machinery are a part of everyday work
•Day shift and night shift work can be expected depending on the time of year
