|Job Description||Under general supervision of the Department Chair, conduct all aspects of vineyard management, maintenance of vineyard equipment, and support for faculty, staff, and students who use the vineyards for research, teaching, and learning both on campus and at the Oakville Experiment Station.|
|Other Information|| Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 3-5 year's experience in Viticulture or related field. |
Experience overseeing and managing vineyards.
Experience with a variety of rootstock propagation, bench-grafting, field budding, grafting, rootstocks, cultivation, cover crops, grading, irrigation, and planting.
Skills to manage effectively in a changing work environment, and demonstrate flexibility in adapting to different work assignments and organizational needs.
Experience supervising and training technical staff.
Experience implementing and complying with vineyard procedures and federal and state vineyard and pesticide-related regulations, including vineyard and chemical safety.
Experience instructing others in safety procedures and ensuring adherence to safety codes, policies, and practices.
Skills to operate forklifts, farm and industrial tractors, and vineyard-related equipment.
Experiencing recognizing, diagnosing and repairing equipment malfunctions.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with individuals of varying backgrounds to research, secure, and provide information to clarify situations and to resolve problems.
Experience providing basic accounting and financial management/oversight for vineyard operations.
Experience with online purchasing programs for ordering supplies and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: BS degree in Viticulture & Enology or related field, or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Experience with viticulture research.
Experience with commercial vineyard operations.
Experience with vineyard mechanization and automation.
Experience supervising and training students.
Knowledge of UC Davis policies and procedures.
